Formerly a top fashion model at 5'10'' tall, Carey was an a fan favorite of top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists voted her father Scientist of the Year. Carey was educated throughout the world as a consequence of her father's work. After she graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started modeling on the side. This caught the eye of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. The model lived in France for a short time, including Paris as well as Bordeaux. She then returned in New York for her college studies and to further develop her career as a model. She was a full-time student at New York University, obtaining her major in Literature between modeling assignments. When she began studying acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in acting grew. In 1986 she began her career in acting with a minor role as a minor character in "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water white water rafting.
